Berkeley, Gloucestershire. GL13 9PA.
Berkeley Nuclear Licenced site covers 27 hectares of special scientific interest on the bank of the River Severn. The site finished generating power in 1989 and is currently in the decommissioning phase.
Role Set and Remuneration
Leadership Set. Salary £42,478. Based on an average 42hrs per week, at an hourly rate of £19.45.
Hours of work and shift pattern
12-hour shifts on a rolling schedule of 2 days followed by 2 nights followed by 4 days off.
Valid SIA Licence Required for all applications
Valid Full UK driving licence required for all applications
Duties
Purpose of Role
To assist in the management and leadership of the Security Team in delivering a professional, effective Security Service and Emergency/ Contingency / Silent Hours Monitoring & Surveillance response capability to the Company and Site standards.
About You
Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Implement site Access Control procedures in accordance with the Site Security Plan (SSP) and Security Assignment Instructions (SAIs).
- Carry out searching of people, property and vehicles as per Company Standards and Procedures and the SSP.
- Carry out security patrols of the site and its environs in accordance with the SSP and SAI. Promptly report any incidents and irregularities in accordance with procedures.
- Assess and take appropriate immediate actions in response to incidents.
- Effective use of security management system (access control, alarm and CCTV equipment).
- Assess and take appropriate action in response to Plant alarms when in Silent Hours Surveillance and Monitoring
- Operate Health Physics monitoring equipment if applicable.
- Liaise with other staff, Security Guards, Site Security Manager (SSM), Deputy SSM (DSSM), Guard Force Manager (GFM), Duly Authorised Person (DAP)/ Duty Controller as appropriate.
- Act as a mentor for Security Guards.
- The post holder will be required to hold security vetting clearance at 'SC' level
- Assist in the management and leadership of the Security Team in delivering a professional, effective security service and Emergency/ Contingency/ Silent Hours Monitoring & Surveillance response capability to the Company and Site Standards.
- Be part of the process for performance management and development reviews for the Security Force in consultation with the GFM / DSSM/ SSM.
- Ensure effective communication within the Security Function and team.
- Monitor and make a record of performance through Task Observations and act as necessary to maintain and improve performance.
- Identify good practice in performance at sites and externally and promote and deploy across the Site.
- As an effective Lead Guard, the post holder will be responsible for contributing to People Management, Performance Management, Control and Supervision, Loss Control, Communications, Resource Management and Management of Systems and Processes.
- The post holder will be required to be a member of, and participate in, the Site Emergency/ Contingency Arrangements.
- Comply with the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Support the continuous improvement of Health, Safety Environment and Quality on Site.
- As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery within his or her range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.
- Contribute to the effective development and delivery of training within own area of specialism.

- Support the effective deployment of company-wide policies, processes, systems and procedures ensuring that at all time the business remains compliant. Training

The post holder may be required to achieve various authorisations in order to carry out the full scope of the role. The requirements for specific authorisations are specified in Common Authorisation Instructions.
Person Specification
The main purpose of the Person Specification is to ensure that transparent and consistent criteria are applied for selection purposes. Individuals being considered for this role must therefore meet all of the essential criteria reflected in this person specification. In exceptional circumstances, where the individual does not fully meet the qualification criteria, demonstrable extensive experience will be considered, provided that their technical competence is assessed by the relevant Function as 'suitably qualified and experienced'.
